Welcome to Vienna!
You got accepted for an IAESTE traineeship in Vienna? Congratulations! We, the Summer Reception Team, will make sure that you will enjoy your stay here. Especially in summer we won't give you a chance to get bored, because we offer a dense program that will keep you busy all the time.
Preparation of your trip to Austria
About two weeks before your planned arrival, you will receive a Welcome-email giving you all relevant information about your youth hostel, phone numbers of our Summer Reception team and useful things to bring with you. It is our standard procedure to meet you upon arrival and accompany you to the youth hostel.
Please use this checklist to make sure that your trip to Austria is well prepared.
- valid passport
- visa (depending on your country of origin and duration of your internship - more information
was sent to you together with your N5-a, or go to www.iaeste.at) - send the N5-b to your local IAESTE committee
- confirm your travel details (including your flight or train number) to our Exchange Incoming team
by email incoming[at]vienna.iaeste.at - print the Welcome-email and take it with you
- subscribe to our Summer Reception mailing-list called sr09-vienna
- make sure that you bring something special representing your country
Before you come to Vienna, you should contact us to let us know your arrival details. As soon as you arrive in Vienna, you will be picked up by an IAESTE member at the airport or train station
and you'll be brought to your accommodation.
Registration for the mailing-list
All events and important news will be announced at the mailing list. You can also communicate with all registered trainees and IAESTE members to make appointments and share your thoughts. The list will remain even after summer. If you want to be on our mailing list (called sr09-vienna), please register.
Accomodation
We have arranged that all trainees will stay in a student hostel or flat, which is situated very close to the center of Vienna. The rent is about 270-350 Euro per month and can be paid either by credit card or cash. If you want to have more information about the hostel, please contact your summer reception officer.
Summer Reception 2009
During the week, there will be weekly meetings that will take place in a pub or a restaurant every Wednesday. That's a good opportunity to meet all the other trainees in Vienna and have a chat with them.
We will also organise many weekend trips for you, most of the dates are already fixed and can be seen in the schedule.
